Find help for camera permissions, photo and video editing, LUT previews, saving exports, and restoring Pro purchases.
Camera and permissions
UmbraStory needs camera access to capture photos and videos, microphone access to record video sound, and Photos access when you import or save media.
- To enable permissions, open iPhone Settings, choose UmbraStory, then turn on Camera, Microphone, and Photos access as needed.
- If the live camera preview is black, confirm Camera permission is enabled and restart the app.
- If saving fails, confirm Photos permission is enabled and that your device has enough available storage.
Photo and video editing
UmbraStory applies LUT looks and creative controls locally on your device. Imported originals are not overwritten. Exports are saved as new files.
- Use Original to compare the unedited image or video with the selected LUT.
- Use the category chips to browse LUTs for daily scenes, portraits, landscapes, street, night, food, vintage, monochrome, and cinematic looks.
- Large videos can take longer to load and export. Keep the app open until export finishes.
Pro purchases and restore
UmbraStory Pro unlocks the full LUT library, Pro-only video features, custom LUT styles, and advanced editing controls.
- Purchases are handled by Apple through your Apple ID.
- To restore a previous purchase, open the Pro page in UmbraStory and tap Restore Purchases.
- To manage or cancel a subscription, open iPhone Settings, tap your Apple ID, then choose Subscriptions.
FAQ
Does UmbraStory upload my photos or videos?
No. Photo and video editing is processed locally on your device.
Will exported edits replace my originals?
No. UmbraStory creates a new exported file and keeps the original unchanged.
Can I use the app without an account?
Yes. UmbraStory does not require registration or login.
