Privacy Policy
UmbraStory is built to keep your creative work private. Photo and video processing takes place on your device, and no account is required to use the app.
Effective June 22, 20261. Information UmbraStory handles
UmbraStory may handle the following information only to provide its camera and editing features:
- Photos and videos you capture or choose to import.
- Editing parameters, LUT selections, favorites, custom LUT names, and app preferences.
- Local album records and thumbnails created when you save work inside the app.
- App Store purchase entitlement information used to unlock Pro features.
UmbraStory does not require registration and does not collect a name, email address, password, or social account profile.
2. Photos and videos
Your photos and videos are processed locally on your device. UmbraStory does not upload your media to an UmbraStory server. Imported originals are not overwritten. When you export edited media, the app creates a new file and saves it only after you choose to do so.
Items saved to UmbraStory's local gallery remain in the app's storage until you delete them or remove the app. Deleting an item from the in-app gallery does not automatically delete a separately saved copy from Apple Photos.
3. Device permissions
- Camera: used to preview and capture photos and videos.
- Microphone: used only to record sound with videos.
- Photos: used when you choose media to import or save finished media to your library.
You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some features will not work when their required permission is disabled.
4. Purchases and subscriptions
Monthly, annual, and lifetime Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. UmbraStory does not receive or store your payment card details. Apple may provide transaction status, product identifier, purchase date, expiration date, and revocation status so the app can determine whether Pro features are available.
Purchase history and subscription management are governed by your Apple ID and Apple's privacy practices.
5. Advertising and tracking
The current release does not use a third-party advertising SDK and does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. If advertising or analytics services are added in a future release, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before those services are used.
6. Storage and retention
App settings, favorites, custom LUT data, local gallery metadata, thumbnails, and media files are stored locally on your device. You can remove local gallery items from within UmbraStory. Uninstalling the app removes data stored in the app container, subject to normal iOS backup and restore behavior.
App Store transaction records are retained by Apple according to Apple's policies and cannot be deleted by UmbraStory.
7. Data sharing
UmbraStory does not sell your personal information. Because the current release does not operate an account or media-upload service, UmbraStory does not share your photos, videos, or editing history with third parties. Data may be disclosed only when required by applicable law.
8. Children's privacy
UmbraStory is a general-audience creative tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not provide public profiles, messaging, or user-generated-content publishing.
9. Security
UmbraStory limits data handling to what is needed for its features and relies on iOS app sandboxing and system permission controls. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, but keeping media processing on-device reduces exposure to network-based risks.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when UmbraStory's features or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published.
11. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, contact the UmbraStory developer through the support link on the UmbraStory App Store product page.
